Job Description:

Blue Origin is seeking a Senior ASIC Design Engineer specializing in DSP and Baseband for its TeraWave satellite communications network, which aims to deliver high-speed data connectivity globally. The role involves developing advanced digital signal processing solutions to support a network designed for enterprise, data center, and government users.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and architect custom silicon solutions including DSPs and baseband processing components.
  • Lead technical architecture decisions for space-optimized processing solutions.
  • Design advanced DSP algorithms for satellite communications, including modulation and error correction.
  • Oversee end-to-end ASIC/FPGA development from requirements to post-silicon validation.
  • Develop high-performance, power-efficient baseband processing solutions for Q/V-band communications.
  • Manage design flows and coordinate with foundry partners for manufacturability.
  • Implement radiation tolerance techniques and coordinate radiation testing for space survivability.
  • Drive design standards, verification strategies, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including systems, RF, and software engineers.
  • Lead technical risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for design challenges.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in ASIC/FPGA design focusing on DSP and baseband processing.
  • Expertise in digital signal processing algorithms and implementations.
  • Experience with hardware description languages (VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog).
  • Knowledge of communication systems and protocols.
  • Experience with high-speed digital design techniques.
  • Understanding of radiation effects on digital circuits.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard EDA tools for digital design.
