Job Description:

We are looking for a skilled and self-motivated Automotive EE Hardware Engineer to join our Design Engineering group. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing, developing, and validating automotive Electronic Control Units (ECUs). This role involves supporting production programs before and after the start of production (SOP) and requires effective communication of technical concepts and testing methods.

Responsibilities:

  • Localize new product designs for manufacturing preparation.
  • Create registered parts lists based on engineering bill of materials.
  • Request work orders for sample builds and coordinate with production engineering.
  • Coordinate project milestones and documentation deliveries with customers.
  • Write build instructions when engineering assembly drawings are incomplete.
  • Program and bench test samples.
  • Provide engineering support for on-site DV/PV environmental testing.
  • Conduct failure analysis and troubleshooting for internal and validation samples.
  • Support model changes and new model introductions in post-production.
  • Assist with component changes due to end-of-life or supply chain issues.
  • Analyze and comprehend customer requirements and needs.
  • Modify existing designs or create new hardware designs to meet customer specifications.
  • Perform analysis, simulation, and verification of analog and digital hardware and firmware.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team on existing and potential projects.
  • Prepare and maintain engineering documents to support production.
  • Support prototype builds for new and existing products.
  • Develop and manage test specifications and their execution.
  • Design and coordinate the fabrication of test equipment for hardware testing.
  • Work with manufacturing teams to release hardware designs into production.
  • Represent the company at customer meetings to explain technical findings.
  • Assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions for components and products.
  • Attend training to learn new tools and methodologies.

Qualifications:

  • Embedded hardware design experience for automotive applications.
  • Understanding of analog and digital hardware systems in automotive control systems.
  • Knowledge of EMC specifications and mitigation techniques.
  • Familiarity with automotive validation test flows.
  • Experience in creating worst case analysis, preferably using MathCAD.
  • Proficient in laboratory test equipment such as multi-meters and oscilloscopes.
  • Ability to conduct circuit analysis using device schematics and testing equipment.
  • Familiarity with automotive SoCs and communication protocols (CAN, LIN, USB, etc.).
  • Experience with Intrepid/Vector CAN toolchain is a plus.
  • Ability to read and create electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium Designer or equivalent.
