Chips&Media

Korea

Chips&Media (C&M) was founded in 2003 as the total video hardware IP provider specializing in video codec, deep learning-based computer vision. C&M video codec IPs are suitable for various applications ranging from data centers, automotive, mobiles to IoT. They are known for low power usage, high performance, small size, cost-efficiency, and reliability with countless market references.

  • The WAVE codec series supports a variety of video codec standards, AV1, HEVC, AVC, VP9, AVS2, and legacy, to encode or decode videos up to 4K@120fps and 8K@60fps real-time.

  • The WAVE codec series has an on-the-fly (OTF) pre-/post-processor to support rotating mirroring, and scaling as additional features. Moreover, standalone pre-/post- processor MAPI is also available with a broader range of input/output supports.

  • Furthermore, Chips&Media has deep learning-based super-resolution (SR) IP to upscale low-resolution images to high-resolution. c.WAVE121 uses pre-trained models with various datasets to up-scale up to 8K@60fps.

Chips&Media IP cores assist partners/customers to significantly reduce the semiconductor development time and implement the most elevated performance video processing.

Video Codec Hardware IP

The WAVE series supports various media formats with competitive PPA (power, performance, area). WAVE codecs support AV1, HEVC, AVC, VP9, AVS2, and other legacy codec standards with resolutions up to 4K@120fps and 8K@60fps in real-time.

The WAVE video codec IPs can be embedded in consumer electronic devices, including smartphones, multimedia players, digital TVs, set-top boxes, surveillance cameras, automotive infotainment, AR/VR, and more.

The WAVE6 series, our latest IP, offers higher encoding quality, higher resolution, lower power consumption, and lower latency. The WAVE6 series also suggests additional features, such as a down-scaler, color space conversion, and a 3rd-party interface, which are configurable to a customer’s request.
