Job Description:

Medtronic is seeking a Principal ASIC Design Engineer to join their team in Mounds View, MN. This role involves contributing to the development of life-saving medical devices, specifically in the area of Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ASIC design and will work collaboratively in a dynamic environment focused on innovation and patient care.

Responsibilities:

  • Create System Verilog RTL designs from product specifications to defining architecture and block-level implementation.
  • Implement ASIC physical design including synthesis, Static Timing Analysis (STA), and Place and Route (PAR).
  • Support verification for coverage improvement and design debugging.
  • Collaborate with product engineering, test engineering, research, and firmware teams throughout the product development process.
  • Determine design approaches and parameters, analyzing ICs using lab equipment to verify functionality and operating range.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of ASIC Design experience, or a Master's degree with 5 years, or a PhD with 3 years of experience.

Skills:

  • Strong scripting skills in Python, Tcl, or Perl.
  • Experience with Universal Verification Methodologies (UVM).
  • Proficiency in Cadence CAD tools such as Genus, Conformal, Innovus, Voltus, Tempus, and Modus.
  • Knowledge of low power design methods and power analysis.
  • Experience in Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and mixed signal ICs with Digital Analog Boundary crossings.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team-based environment.
