Job Description:

The Common Platform Hardware (CPH) department in Military Avionics and Helicopters (MA&H) is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead the development and sustainment of advanced avionics hardware products for military aircraft. This role involves overseeing the design and integration of circuit cards and systems, ensuring compliance with rigorous testing standards, and mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities:

  • Design circuit cards for avionics computers.
  • Attend review and planning meetings to collaborate on designs.
  • Troubleshoot circuit cards and full computer hardware in a lab environment.
  • Design test solutions to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Oversee qualification testing and address any failures during testing.
  • Mentor and delegate tasks to less experienced engineers on the KC-46 program integration.
  • Lead integration activities for KC-46 VRCU and VPU, collaborating with other team leads.
  • Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis during testing.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Experience in an Electrical Engineering role.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting experience.

Skills:

  • Experience in hardware requirements development with systems teams.
  • Proficiency with standard lab equipment for integration testing.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Schematic capture of digital/analog mixed signal designs.
  • Expertise in printed board (PWB) layout.
  • Experience interfacing with complex embedded devices.
  • Development of digital logic devices (FPGA and ASIC).
  • Familiarity with formal qualification standards (DO-160, MIL-STD-810/461).
  • Understanding of Design to Cost (DTC+), Design for Manufacturing (DFM), and Design for Test (DFT).
