Job Description:

The Hardware Design Principal Engineer will play a crucial role in the Hardware Design team, focusing on developing board-level hardware solutions from prototype to high-volume production.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop board-level hardware solutions for high-density, high-volume next-generation products.
  • Collaborate with advanced technology groups on Fibre Channel networking, storage, and custom ASIC solutions.
  • Lead technical discussions with customers and oversee design deliverables from Contract Manufacturers.
  • Provide technical leadership and engineering support to strategic customers, including creating presentations for reviews.
  • Address design challenges and debug failures in collaboration with customers.
  • Architect and design high-performance board-level systems for various applications.
  • Manage designs with JDM partners to ensure production quality and build readiness.
  • Review schematics and PCB layouts with an emphasis on signal and power integrity.
  • Conduct design reviews and document processes throughout the product development cycle.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure product performance and reliability.
  • Define and execute board-level electrical tests and report findings.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 15+ years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 10+ years of experience.
  • 12+ years of experience in board-level hardware design and system architecture.
  • 5+ years of experience working with ODM/JDM.

Skills:

  • Proficiency with schematic capture tools (Cadence OrCAD, Allegro HDL) and PCB layout tools.
  • Strong expertise in high-speed interfaces and protocols (PCIe Gen5+, DDR4/5, Ethernet, QSPI, USB).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with customer-facing experience.
  • Advanced lab skills in hardware bring-up, system-level testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of high-speed SerDes technologies (112G/224G) and EMC/EMI compliance standards.
  • Basic Linux proficiency for system test environment setup.
  • Familiarity with mechanical and thermal design principles.
