Antifuse IP Core

As suggested by the name, an antifuse is the opposite of a fuse. The function of a fuse is to start with being a low resistance device which can produce a break or disengagement in the electrical conduction pathway of a circuit when the amount of current passing through exceeds a predetermined limit or ceiling. An antifuse, on the other hand, is designed to start with being a high resistance electrical device which produces an electrically conductive channel when the voltage passing across it exceed a predetermined limit or ceiling.

This is a programmable IP which has the capability of creating permanent conductive pathways between various transistors, thus opening up a new channel in the circuit. This is done so when a non conducting silicon part of the circuit is converted into a conducting polysilicon due to increased voltage. These are called silicon antifuses.
