Chipmaker Allwinner is Enabling a $79 Laptop

Allwinner Technology, a Chinese fabless semiconductor company that design and manufacture SoC processors announced a new laptop that could cost $79. Since its founding in 2007, Allwinner has released more than 15  SoC processors that have been widely implemented in Android-based tablets, as well as in smartphones, laptops and more.

 

The laptops are powered by an Allwinner 64-bit quad-core A64 processor, or a 32-bit octa-core A83T chip. The displays, whether the smallest 11.6-inch or the largest 14.1-inch, goes only up to 1366×768 in resolution. Hardware configurations start at 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage, though those can go up all the way to 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. There is also one model that has an 11.6-inch touchscreen and bends over like a Lenovo Yoga.
