Staff Software Engineer, Application Specific Integrated Circuits Firmware

Google is seeking experienced software engineers to develop next-generation technologies that enhance user interaction and information management. This role involves working on critical projects related to custom accelerators (ASICs) for machine learning and video processing, with opportunities for team and project transitions as the business evolves.

Responsibilities:

• Develop firmware for ASICs, managing features like power-on, reset, and hardware initialization.
• Support trusted firmware and key management to protect user data and privacy.
• Create tools for updating and debugging ASIC firmware, facilitating chip bring-up and hardware debugging.
• Collaborate with hardware design teams on hardware/software interface code design.
• Build simulators that accurately model custom accelerator ASICs and assist in design verification and bring-up.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 5 years of experience with embedded operating systems.
• 3 years of experience in software design and architecture.

Skills:

• Proficiency in C, C++, and embedded systems.
• Experience with data structures and algorithms.
• Familiarity with multi-threaded designs, machine learning, and video encoding/decoding.
