Job Description:

Lockheed Martin is seeking an FPGA/ASIC Design Engineer for its Advanced Programs area in Orlando, Florida. This role involves the end-to-end creation of complex FPGA and ASIC solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure high-performance hardware development.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed FPGA/ASIC specifications and high-level architecture using VHDL/Verilog.
  • Perform functional and timing verification, including creating testbenches and simulation plans.
  • Conduct trade-off studies to select suitable FPGA families or ASIC processes, balancing utilization, power, thermal limits, cost, and schedule.
  • Collaborate with software, hardware, and systems teams to define interface requirements and integration strategies.
  • Run power and thermal budget analyses, producing models and dashboards to maintain mission-critical limits.
  • Create and maintain complete design data packages for Design Assurance reviews and release.
  • Contribute to the Design Architecture development process and provide technical input for system-level decisions.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote a collaborative culture of technical excellence.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science or higher in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • HDL programming experience with VHDL, Verilog, and/or System Verilog.

Skills:

  • Experience with FPGA simulation tools and languages.
  • Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
  • Experience with multiple FPGA vendors (e.g., Altera, Microchip, Xilinx) or ASIC design.
  • Knowledge of software programming languages (C, C++, Python).
  • Experience with debugging and troubleshooting complex digital systems.
  • Knowledge of UVM and experience with UVM-based verification methodologies.
  • Familiarity with the Design Assurance process.
