Computer Engineer II – Electronics Hardware Design

Alpha Research & Technology, Inc. is seeking a Senior Computer Engineer - Electronics Design to lead systems engineering activities for electronics products in El Dorado Hills, CA. The role involves overseeing the development of advanced airborne C4ISR mission systems, ensuring they meet customer requirements and technical specifications.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze customer requirements and provide technical and cost inputs for proposals.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary product teams for system-level technical oversight throughout the development cycle.
• Perform top-level system designs and trade-off studies.
• Plan layouts for computers and peripheral equipment, including modifications to existing systems.
• Design electrical interfaces, interconnect diagrams, wiring diagrams, and cable drawings.
• Understand customer needs and identify suitable processes and technologies.
• Confer with customers and project managers to gather information on system limitations and capabilities.
• Prepare specifications and resource requirements, ensuring proper flow down of technical requirements to engineering groups.
• Support internal and formal design reviews with customers.
• Assist in system integration design, including cable harness design and electronic equipment integration.
• Generate user manuals, assembly procedures, and test procedures.
• Create compliance verification matrices and engineering reports.
• Review and approve system-level documents and test data.
• Interface with Test Engineers to develop system test plans and procedures.
• Collaborate with other functional groups to resolve technical issues and non-conformances.
• Oversee equipment testing and operation post-delivery to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Manage customer interfaces and provide direct technical support.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Computer, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5-7 years of hands-on systems engineering design experience in aerospace and electronics hardware industries.
• Previous DoD system design experience preferred.

Skills:

• Proficient in MS Office (Visio, Project, PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
• Experience with coding languages such as ColdFusion, ASP.net, PHP, SQL, and HTML5.
• Knowledge of ASIC/FPGA design, System on Chip (SOC), and Micro Controllers.
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies like VMware and OpenXT.
• Understanding of networking concepts including VLAN Routing and IP Video Encoding/Decoding.
• Experience with testing standards such as MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
