Job Description:

Microsoft is seeking a Principal Design Engineer to join its innovative Artificial Intelligence System on Chip (AISoC) Silicon team. This role involves developing cutting-edge technology for various systems, including consumer products and cloud servers. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment, embodying Microsoft’s mission to empower individuals and organizations globally.

Responsibilities:

  • Join a digital logic design team to develop AI components and sub-systems.
  • Define IP and sub-system micro-architecture, including RTL entry, design quality, and timing closure for high-performance IP.
  • Collaborate with verification teams to ensure architectural compliance and optimize design tradeoffs with PD, DFT, and other teams.
  • Provide technical leadership through mentorship and teamwork.

Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 3+ years of experience; OR a Master's Degree with 6+ years; OR a Bachelor's Degree with 8+ years; OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft and government security screening requirements, including passing the Microsoft Cloud background check.
  • Access to export-controlled information requires proof of citizenship or residency.

Skills:

  • 1+ years of experience leading projects from beginning to end.
  • 8+ years in digital logic design, including microarchitecture specification, RTL coding in Verilog/System Verilog, and design verification.
  • 7+ years in synthesis, timing constraints, and post-silicon debug.
  • 10+ years in silicon development with successful ASIC tape outs in deep sub-micron technologies.
  • Experience in CPU/GPU/APU micro-architecture, SOC integration, or high-throughput AXI/Router design.
  • Proficiency in automation using scripting languages like Python or Perl.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with larger teams.
