Job Description:

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Senior FPGA Engineer to join the CNS Hardware Engineering Group in Melbourne, Florida. This role involves supporting existing CNS products and collaborating with a team of FPGA and Hardware Engineers. The engineer will engage in both new design and product sustaining support, focusing on project planning, requirements capture, and the development of bids and schedules.

Responsibilities:

  • Capture, decompose, and trace requirements.
  • Develop ASIC/FPGA/MPSoC digital architecture and design.
  • Write RTL design code and simulations in VHDL, Verilog, and/or SystemVerilog.
  • Create UVM constrained random environments using SystemVerilog.
  • Establish placement and timing constraints.
  • Conduct synthesis, place and route, and perform static timing analysis.
  • Verify ASIC/FPGA/SoPC using various inspection and simulation methods.
  • Create DO-254 DAL-A certification artifacts for Airborne Electronic Hardware.
  • Participate in peer reviews and FAA SOI audits.
  • Support RFIs and RFPs by creating engineering bids.
  • Communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders including Engineering and Program Management.
  • May act as a project engineer and mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM with 5 years of relevant experience or an Advanced Degree with 3 years of experience.
  • Proficiency in writing RTL and testbenches using VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog.
  • Experience with FPGA tools like Questasim, Vivado, and Synplify Pro.
  • Familiarity with data interfaces such as PCIe, DDR, and Ethernet.
  • Knowledge of device-level timing and clock domain crossing.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix, scripting, C/C++, Python, or Perl.

Skills:

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Experience with DO-254 processes and design assurance for ASIC/FPGA developments.
  • Understanding of DSP/RF architectures.
  • Skills in managing cost, schedule, and performance objectives.
  • Basic risk management skills.
