Job Description:

Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) is seeking an ASIC & FPGA Engineer to join their Hardware Engineering team. This role involves the end-to-end development of FPGA solutions for aerospace and defense systems, focusing on precision engagement technologies for the U.S. and allied militaries.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the end-to-end development of FPGA solutions.
  • Coordinate with systems engineers, software developers, and hardware integrators.
  • Translate system requirements into reliable, high-performance hardware.
  • Develop complex FPGA designs, including specification, design, verification, and implementation.
  • Conduct trade studies to select optimized FPGA solutions based on device utilization, power, and thermal requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop optimal architecture and FPGA requirements.
  • Engage in datalink and communication verification through simulation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Proven experience leading FPGA design teams or managing FPGA development projects.
  • Proficiency in hardware description languages (VHDL, Verilog, and/or SystemVerilog).
  • Experience with embedded System-on-Chip integration and hardware validation.
  • Exposure to video and signal-processing implementations.
  • Experience with FPGA simulation, test bench development, scripting, and design verification.

Skills:

  • Experience managing configuration control, preferably using GitLab.
  • Hands-on experience with AMD/Xilinx tools and devices, including Versal and UltraScale+ families.
  • Expertise in High-Level Synthesis and proficiency with Vivado/Vitis design environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills for board-level testing and FPGA validation.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the ASIC/FPGA lifecycle: architecture, design, simulation, verification, integration, and test.
  • Experience with RF Datalink waveforms design, simulation, and verification.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional engineering and program management teams in an Agile or iterative development environment.
