Job Description:

Heath Consultants is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer III for its Houston, TX office. This hands-on role involves supporting engineering, laboratory, and manufacturing operations, focusing on the design, development, testing, and support of embedded electronic instrumentation and systems for the natural gas utility industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop embedded and real-time systems using C, C++, Python, and/or MATLAB.
  • Apply electrical engineering principles across analog, digital, power, and embedded firmware systems.
  • Design and support low-power electronics for portable instruments with wired and wireless connectivity.
  • Lead or contribute to electronics architecture and design, including schematics and PCB layouts.
  • Guide PCB designers by establishing layout requirements and constraints.
  • Develop and troubleshoot embedded firmware and real-time systems.
  • Implement power converter and control system simulations using MATLAB, Simulink, and PSpice.
  • Evaluate design tradeoffs involving cost, performance, reliability, manufacturability, and schedule.
  • Translate customer needs into engineering requirements and solutions.
  • Support product development through key phases including hardware requirements definition and test planning.
  • Identify opportunities to incorporate new components and technologies to improve products.
  • Serve as a technical resource and contribute to architecture and design decisions.
  • Communicate technical information clearly with stakeholders.
  • Coach and mentor less-experienced engineers and technicians.
  • Apply applicable standards and regulations related to product development for the natural gas utility market.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 4–7 years of experience in an R&D, manufacturing, or engineering environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in embedded electronics, instrumentation, or related product development.
  • Proficiency with electrical CAD tools such as Altium.
  • Experience developing or supporting embedded systems and electronics.
  • Strong technical problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to create clear technical documentation.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
