Job Description:

The National Security Agency (NSA) is seeking experienced Engineering and Physical Sciences Researchers to join its Laboratory for Physical Sciences (LPS). This role involves leading advanced research in electromagnetics engineering, integrated photonics, and novel computing devices for High Performance Computing (HPC) applications. Researchers will collaborate with academia, industry, and national laboratories to address national security challenges and contribute to the development of future information technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead research efforts in electromagnetics engineering, integrated photonics, and novel computing devices for HPC.
  • Publish findings in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals.
  • Collaborate with academia, industry, and national laboratories on research projects.
  • Supervise students and postdoctoral fellows.
  • Conduct analysis of alternative physical devices and architectures, from conceptual sketches to detailed modeling and simulation.
  • Fabricate functional demonstration software, hardware, and systems to showcase new capabilities.
  • Identify opportunities to apply custom logic to NSA's mission needs in collaboration with ACS research colleagues and customers.
  • Work with various stakeholders to validate designs and develop logic algorithms.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in research and development in relevant technical areas.
  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.

Skills:

  • Expertise in electromagnetics engineering and integrated photonics.
  • Familiarity with High Performance Computing (HPC) applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent communication skills for presenting research findings.
