Hardware Security Engineer

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Hardware Security Engineer to join its Embedded & Specialized Computing Department in El Segundo, CA. This role involves providing hardware security support and contributing to research and development for National Security Space Systems. The ideal candidate will work with cutting-edge technologies and collaborate with various organizations to enhance hardware security measures.

Responsibilities:

• Provide hardware security support in security controls, configuration management, and microelectronic security assessments.
• Contribute to hardware security research and development to secure National Security Space Systems.
• Define threat paths and develop guidance on FPGA/ASIC/embedded systems vulnerability mitigations.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and debug hardware and firmware issues effectively.
• Assist in developing and improving microelectronics assurance policy and documentation.
• Collaborate with other departments and external organizations to develop new technical capabilities.
• Engage in continuous learning through training and mentorship.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM program.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience in FPGA design, embedded systems, or hardware security for the Member of Technical Staff position.
• 4 or more years of relevant experience for the Senior Member of Technical Staff position.

Skills:

• Proven experience in FPGA design and familiarity with HDLs (VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog).
• Proficiency in coding and scripting languages such as C, C++, Python, Perl, or Shell.
• Hands-on experience with Linux environments.
• Experience with major vendor tools including AMD Xilinx, Microchip, or Intel Altera for senior candidates.
• Familiarity with project management tools like Jira or MS Project.
