Job Description:

Aeris Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Project Canary, specializes in advanced laser-based gas analyzers for environmental and industrial applications. The company focuses on high-precision, real-time measurements of greenhouse gases and pollutants, supporting energy companies in improving their emissions reporting. Aeris combines cutting-edge sensors and analytics to provide actionable insights for leak detection and risk reduction.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, debug, and validate electronics for next-generation laser-based gas analyzers.
  • Lead the development of high-precision electrical systems, including analog front-ends and high-speed communications.
  • Select and integrate components for ultra-sensitive trace gas analyzers.
  • Drive circuit modeling, simulation, prototyping, and validation against noise and precision requirements.
  • Oversee the PCB lifecycle from architecture to production and continuous improvement.
  • Explore emerging technologies to enhance analyzer performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring new products from concept to production.
  • Mentor engineers while remaining engaged in hands-on design and development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of electrical engineering experience with a focus on analog circuit design and system integration.
  • Experience with laser-based spectroscopy or related optical sensing systems.
  • Familiarity with MIR/NIR lasers and precision low-noise analog circuitry.
  • Direct experience with laser-based gas spectroscopy or optical gas sensing instruments preferred.
  • Proven ability to contribute to production-ready designs in active development environments.
  • Experience leading engineering teams and managing complex projects.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of analog and mixed-signal electronics.
  • Proficiency with PCB design tools and circuit simulation software (e.g., OrCAD, LTspice).
  • Experience with embedded systems and microcontroller programming.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols (UART, I2C, SPI) and high-level scripting languages (e.g., Python).
  • Proficiency with laboratory test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DMMs).
