Job Description:

Collins Aerospace, a leader in aerospace technology, is seeking a Senior DSP FPGA/ASIC Engineer to join their Applied Research and Technology team in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This role involves designing and implementing advanced signal processing algorithms on FPGA and ASIC platforms, contributing to the development of cutting-edge aerospace and defense systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement signal processing algorithms for FPGA or ASIC systems.
  • Utilize Simulink for modeling and simulation of signal processing systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, test, and validate DSP algorithms.
  • Optimize FPGA implementations for performance, power, and size constraints.
  • Conduct system-level analysis and testing to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Lead project design teams by planning activities and reporting status.
  • Integrate signal processing solutions with hardware, software, and systems engineers.
  • Stay updated on advancements in FPGA technologies and signal processing methodologies.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with 5 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree with 3 years of experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued secret security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship required for security clearance eligibility.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in signal processing or FPGA/ASIC development.
  • Expertise in Simulink and/or MATLAB for DSP system modeling and simulation.
  • Proficient in VHDL/Verilog for FPGA/ASIC design and implementation.
  • Experience with algorithm development for signal processing applications.

Skills:

  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills for FPGA/ASIC and DSP systems.
  • Experience with high-speed digital interfaces and protocols (e.g., DDR, PCIe, Ethernet).
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Familiarity with HDL Coder and model-based design generation.
  • Understanding of hardware-software co-design principles.
