Job Description:

Lockheed Martin is seeking a Senior ASIC & FPGA Design Engineer for the ADSWAP CN program, focusing on advanced missile and fire control systems for aerospace and defense applications. This role involves leading the design and implementation of FPGA architectures, ensuring compliance with rigorous standards while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end creation of sophisticated FPGA architectures from concept to verification.
  • Develop complete FPGA design specifications and high-level architecture in collaboration with teams.
  • Select optimal FPGA families through trade-off analyses balancing performance, power, cost, and schedule.
  • Build RTL using VHDL/Verilog and manage synthesis, place and route, and timing closure with tools like Vivado or Quartus.
  • Perform architectural and functional verification using simulation and hardware in the loop testing.
  • Manage power and thermal budgeting, creating models and dashboards to maintain design limits.
  • Integrate embedded processor cores via High Level Synthesis (HLS) and drive ASIC-FPGA co-design as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with Design Assurance and documentation standards throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Contribute to system-level modeling in MATLAB/Simulink, ensuring FPGA blocks fit into overall architecture.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote a collaborative culture of technical excellence.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated FPGA design expertise, including VHDL/Verilog coding and proficiency with Vivado or Quartus.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects and communicate technical concepts effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Skills:

  • Experience in ASIC design and co-design of ASIC-FPGA solutions.
  • Proficiency with high-level synthesis (HLS) and integration of embedded processor cores.
  • Knowledge of system-level modeling using MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Exposure to aerospace or defense program environments.
  • Familiarity with Design Assurance processes for mission-critical hardware.
  • Experience with hardware-software co-verification and board-level bring-up.
