Job Description:

Infineon Technologies Americas Corp. is looking for a Staff Engineer Verification in San Jose, CA, to address signal integrity (SI), power integrity (PI), and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) challenges. The role involves conducting lab measurements, developing test plans, and performing analyses to ensure robust designs from chip to system level.

Responsibilities:

  • Debug SI/PI and EMC failures.
  • Conduct lab EMC measurements and follow up on issue resolution.
  • Develop test plans to validate signal and power integrity.
  • Perform SI/PI and EMC analysis for design solutions.
  • Develop, simulate, and validate channel models using electromagnetic field solvers like Ansys HFSS and SiWave.
  • Review and optimize package and PCB designs for signal and power integrity.
  • Conduct PCB timing analysis and collaborate with board engineers and layout designers to implement SI/PI rules.
  • Develop layout/SI/PI/PDN checklists.
  • Perform SI DVT measurements on boards and correlate simulations with DVT measurements.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s or foreign equivalent degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, or a related field.
  • Two years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Skills:

  • EM theory for solving SI/PI/EMC issues in high-speed systems.
  • Fundamental concepts of electromagnetic theory.
  • EMC design and debugging techniques.
  • Modern digital signal processing techniques for data communication systems.
  • Transmission line theory and high-speed PCB design.
  • Understanding of board stackup, trace geometries, and their impact on SI.
  • Proficiency in Ansys HFSS, SIwave, DesignerSI, HSPICE, and Agilent ADS.
  • Experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, VNA, TDR, and logic analyzers.
