Job Description:

Cisco is seeking a Senior Signal Integrity Engineer to join the Service Provider SI team in San Jose, CA. This role involves designing and analyzing high-speed components and power distribution networks for next-generation Cisco Switch products. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to ensure the successful development of innovative networking solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Model and simulate high-speed links, including I/O, IC packages, and system interconnections.
  • Analyze power delivery networks and perform electromagnetic modeling of complex structures.
  • Conduct pre- and post-route signal integrity analysis for PCB and ASIC designs.
  • Develop signal integrity design guidelines, test plans, and reports.
  • Select appropriate PCB materials and collaborate with vendors to resolve DFM issues.
  • Support prototype bring-up, validation, and troubleshooting processes.
  • Address signal integrity challenges in high-speed interconnections and power systems.
  • Collaborate with hardware teams including HW design, eCAD, Mechanical, Power, EMC, and Diagnostics.
  • Contribute to the SI/PI technology roadmap and evaluate new tools and techniques.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of relevant experience or Master's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of EE fundamentals, EM theory, and coupling mechanisms in circuit/system design.
  • Experience with transmission line theory, channel modeling, and signal/power integrity analysis.
  • Lab experience with VNA, TDR, and oscilloscopes.

Skills:

  • Proficiency with tools such as HFSS, ADS, Matlab, Cadence PowerSI/DC, Allegro, Simbeor, and HSpice.
  • Experience with 3-D field solvers and PI simulation tools.
  • Self-motivated with strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of high-speed NRZ and PAM4 SerDes, high-speed PCB/package development, and PI analysis.
  • Familiarity with optical transceiver module types and requirements.
