Job Description:
Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) is a leading global semiconductor company focused on bridging the physical and digital worlds to drive advancements in various sectors, including automation, healthcare, and energy. The company is seeking a Staff System Architecture and Design Engineer for its Data Center & Energy division, located in Raleigh, NC or Wilmington, MA. This role involves developing high-voltage power converters to meet the growing demands of AI data centers.
Responsibilities:
- Design and optimize multi-kW intelligent system products, including high voltage power distribution boxes (PDBs) and DC/DC modules.
- Own the debugging, testing, and troubleshooting of system prototypes in the lab, including hands-on measurement and root-cause analysis.
- Perform system modeling, simulation, validation, and troubleshooting to ensure robust system performance.
- Develop power modules and system products, integrating electrical, thermal, and mechanical components.
- Define next-generation Wide Bandgap products (GaN or SiC) with innovative integration solutions.
- Design isolated power solutions and magnetic components to meet performance, safety, efficiency, and EMI requirements.
- Implement high-voltage power management and protection functions, including hot-swap controllers and power-stage solutions.
- Collaborate with silicon, firmware, software, and validation teams to deliver fully integrated and tested solutions.
Qualifications:
- M.S. or above in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a closely related field.
- 3+ years of industrial experience in project development for power converters (DC/DC, AC/DC, or inverter systems).
- Understanding of power converter topologies and their control requirements.
- Deep expertise in design tools for simulations, such as Simetrix/Simplis, Mathcad, PLECS, or PSIM.
- Expertise in control design and implementation, including voltage/current mode control and dynamic response optimization.
- Understanding of GaN/SiC device characteristics and system value propositions.
- Proven ability to debug and troubleshoot power electronics systems in a lab environment.
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts to cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of datacenter power architectures, including 800V distribution and battery backup integration.
- Experience with FPGA-based control system development (VHDL/Verilog) is a plus.
