Job Description:
Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control is seeking an ASIC & FPGA Design Engineer to join their team, responsible for developing FPGA-based architectures for defense systems. This role involves end-to-end development of complex FPGA designs, ensuring high-performance digital solutions for mission-critical applications.
Responsibilities:
- Translate system requirements into FPGA specifications and architectural diagrams.
- Write self-checking testbenches and perform unit-test, functional, and regression verification.
- Run synthesis, place-and-route, and timing analyses, iterating designs to meet targets.
- Conduct trade-off studies evaluating device utilization, power consumption, and thermal performance.
- Design high-speed serial interfaces and data-path architectures within the FPGA.
- Collaborate with software, hardware, and systems teams to define requirements and optimize architecture.
- Support Design Architecture Development processes and participate in Design Assurance reviews.
- Manage version control and configuration management using Git/GitLab, maintaining design documentation.
- Perform board-level integration, debugging, and troubleshooting in a lab environment.
- Apply circuit-design techniques to validate signal integrity and power distribution.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a related STEM field.
- Minimum 1 year of professional experience with FPGA design and simulation verification.
- HDL programming experience with VHDL, Verilog, and/or SystemVerilog.
- Experience with Xilinx/AMD FPGAs and related toolsets such as Vivado.
- Experience with FPGA simulation tools and languages like Synopsys VCS and SystemVerilog.
- Strong understanding of digital design principles, including timing analysis and signal integrity.
- Experience in hardware-software integration and validation.
- Effective communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
Skills:
- Experience with cybersecurity requirements and verification.
- Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
- Knowledge of multiple FPGA vendors such as Altera/Intel and MicroSemi/Microchip.
- Proficiency in software programming languages like C, C++, or Python.
- Experience with debugging complex digital systems.
- Knowledge of UVM and UVM-based verification methodologies.
- Experience with Synopsys tool sets like Synplify and VCS.
- Familiarity with aerospace design techniques.
- Prior experience with Lockheed Martin MFC.
- Active DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance.
