Hardware Test Engineer, Verification Engineering

Job Description:

Google is seeking a System Verification Engineer to join its Hardware Testing Engineering team, focusing on validating hardware design, software tooling, and process workflows for the next generation of L10/L11 systems. This role involves developing test strategies and executing tests across various projects, including network switches and machine learning pods, to enhance installation, maintenance, and repair processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Validate New Product Introduction (NPI) systems against technical requirements from installation to decommissioning.
  • Author detailed, product-specific test plans based on insights into product design and workflows.
  • Create, modify, or deprecate verification tests reflecting changes in technical requirements.
  • Prepare detailed test reports outlining product risks and recommended mitigation steps.
  • Ensure timely delivery of test cases while documenting the test life-cycle and gathering critical data.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities to enhance testing efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience with test methodologies in a data center environment.
  • 3 years of experience with hardware testing, process validation, or software testing.

Skills:

  • Experience troubleshooting functional and integration test failures across engineering disciplines.
  • Proficient in debugging skills and familiar with industry-standard simulations and debug tools.
  • Knowledge of hardware engineering, including design, development, and testing of computer/device components.
  • Understanding of hardware architecture design and component interactions, including design choices and their impacts.
  • Familiarity with the overall systems integration process and the ability to implement comprehensive test procedures.
