Job Description:

Battelle is seeking an early-career ASIC/FPGA/Hardware Engineer for its Cyber Advanced Microsystem Solutions business unit in Columbus, Ohio. The role involves collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to develop embedded security solutions for government and industrial clients, leveraging advanced technology and research capabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Advanced Microsystem Solutions team to assess the security and reliability of electronic devices and systems.
  • Perform digital circuit analysis throughout the design lifecycle using various techniques.
  • Prototype and develop software implementations for research theories.
  • Conduct technical tasks with minimal supervision, adhering to time and budget constraints.
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses of solutions during technical discussions.
  • Present technical findings to stakeholders tailored to client missions.
  • Contribute to rapid prototyping efforts for Internal Research and Development (IR&D).
  • Document designs and processes to support reproducibility.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 0-6 years of experience; or a Master’s degree with 0-4 years of experience; or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in Integrated Circuit Design lifecycle including simulation, synthesis, layout, and fabrication.
  • Experience in FPGA development flow including RTL design and validation.
  • Proficiency in Hardware Design Languages (VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog).
  • Knowledge of hardware validation and debugging methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools such as Cadence, Synopsys, or Xilinx Vivado.
  • Ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Must be a US Citizen eligible for a Top Secret clearance.

Skills:

  • Active Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility (preferred).
  • Experience leading technical discussions and small IR&D tasks.
  • Ability to build teams of technical experts for collaboration.
  • Understanding of business product offerings and contributing to marketing efforts.
  • Experience with technical proposal generation and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) creation.
  • Knowledge in Machine Learning, Hardware Security, PCB Design, and digital design.
  • Experience with electronic test and measurement equipment.
