Job Description:
Atom Computing is at the forefront of quantum computing, utilizing optically trapped neutral atoms to create groundbreaking technologies. We are looking for a Principal ASIC Designer to lead the development of essential technologies for our quantum computers, overseeing the entire design process from requirements to silicon bring-up. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams and customers to ensure designs meet both technical and business needs, while also providing strategic guidance to executive stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in FPGA design and development to understand hardware architectures for scaling performance and density.
- Lead research on leveraging ASICs for enhanced performance and density in future generations.
- Establish internal ASIC design processes, defining methodologies across architecture, RTL, verification, and tapeout.
- Engage in hands-on ASIC design, including microarchitecture, RTL development, testing, and integration.
- Manage schedules and vendor interfaces, coordinating milestones and ensuring successful fabrication with ASIC partners.
- Collaborate with quantum physicists and engineers to deliver hardware that meets use case requirements.
- Oversee product roadmap and subsystem delivery schedules for commercial and research projects.
Qualifications:
- MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 10+ years of post-degree experience in hardware engineering, specifically in ASIC/SoC environments.
- Experience with 2 or more complete ASIC design cycles.
- Experience porting designs from FPGA prototypes to ASICs.
Skills:
- Proficiency with RTL (SystemVerilog preferred).
- Experience in implementing large digital signal processing blocks in RTL.
- Knowledge of ASIC fabs, partners, and design nodes, as well as FPGA capabilities.
- Familiarity with Cadence, Synopsys, or Siemens EDA design tools.
- Expertise in FPGA, microprocessor, and related digital circuit design.
- Mixed signal design experience is a plus.
