Job Description:

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead a team of FPGA designers and verifiers in Cedar Rapids, IA. This role focuses on developing safety-critical FPGA devices for avionics display and computing products in both commercial and military sectors. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a solid understanding of FPGA development practices, and experience in project management and military/commercial certification.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team applying engineering principles related to Avionics FPGA development.
  • Guide team members in managing scope, schedule, and budget for engineering design activities.
  • Oversee the utilization of design and development processes and ensure compliance with certification standards.
  • Lead and review bid and proposal activities, providing guidance to team members.
  • Make hiring decisions, conduct performance assessments, and develop personnel to achieve career goals.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 10 years relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree with 7 years of experience.
  • Experience in functional or project leadership roles for Software or FPGA developments with cost and schedule responsibility.
  • Strong background in Earned Value Management.

  • Familiarity with various FPGA vendors and verification tools.
