Job Description:
General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) is seeking an experienced engineer to join our team in Scottsdale, AZ, focusing on ASIC and FPGA development. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Electrical or Computer Engineering, with a proven track record in design, verification, and documentation of integrated circuits. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and leadership skills to guide projects and teams effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Define, design, verify, and document ASIC and/or FPGA developments.
- Determine architecture, system simulation, and detailed design approach.
- Define module interfaces and all aspects of device design and simulation.
- Evaluate process flow including high-level design, synthesis, place and route, timing, and power utilization.
- Create test and simulation plans that establish functional criteria.
- Verify test results and analyze performance.
- Review vendor capabilities, foundry technologies, device libraries, and simulation tools.
- Contribute to the generation and maintenance of work products for internal and external use.
- Develop and present requirements, concepts, designs, and results to management and customers.
- Contribute to technical subcontract management including SOW development and proposal evaluation.
- Participate in the improvement of ASIC/FPGA organizational processes.
- Support the generation of technical engineering products using appropriate standards and tools throughout the development lifecycle.
- Lead research and analysis of data to determine design feasibility.
- Select components and equipment based on specifications and reliability analysis.
- Provide leadership and direction to lower-level employees and lead technical tasks for small teams or projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- 8+ years of job-related experience, or 6 years with a Master's degree.
- Agile experience preferred.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of ASIC/FPGA engineering processes and related disciplines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Creative thinking and ability to multi-task.
- Strong problem-solving skills for complex issues.
- Understanding of project leadership principles including SPI/CPI and Earned Value.
- Ability to communicate issues, impacts, and corrective actions clearly.
